Robert Halderman, the man accused of trying to blackmail David Letterman, has officially pleaded guilty to attempting to extort $2 million.

He has been sentenced to six months in jail, five years probation and 1,000 hours of community service.

Despite ex-John Mayer’s recent claims that sex with Jessica Simpson was
like “sexual napalm” Jess says, that she remains a trusting person.

spoke to Ryan Seacrest this morning and revealed: “I’m not as guarded
as people think.  I should probably be more guarded.  I trust a lot of
people, actually.”  

Not that she’s forgiven Mayer - nor do we
blame her for not - she says that basically intimate moments between
lovers should remain that.

On a lighter note, Jess introduced
her new single, “Who We Are” and spoke fondly of Smashing Pumpkins
frontman Billy Corgan, although she contends that they are just friends.

David Letterman’s alleged extortionist Robert Halderman has reportedly
cut a deal and will be pleading guilty this afternoon to extortion
charges.

The former CBS news producer, who was accused of
blackmailing David Letterman for $2 million in exchange for his silence
regarding the talk show host’s sexual affairs with staff members, will
reportedly be sentenced to six months in jail, four-and-a-half years
probation, and 1,000 hours of community service.

Which sure sounds a lot better than the 15 years in jail he faced if he had actually been convicted of blackmail.

Marie Osmond and her family gathered yesterday in Utah to bury Marie’s son, Michael.

Michael Bryan, 18, died from an apparent suicide after jumping off the eighth floor balcony of his LA apartment.  

The teen was remembered as a light hearted brother and son who had a brilliant sense of humor and a kind and generous heart.  

Police said the official cause of Bryan’s death will not be released until autopsy and toxicology tests come back.
